Another quiet Halloween this year. We had maybe three dozen trick-or-treaters come by, mostly because our street is out-of-the-way and not too many houses seem to give out candy.

Stephanie took Morgan and Morgan’s friend, Carolyn, to some of the busier streets in El Segundo to do their trick-or-treating. Earlier in the day, Ron took Morgan and Carolyn to the Halloween Street Faire in downtown El Segundo, sponsored by the El Segundo Recreation and Parks department. Morgan entered her pumpkin the the pumpkin carving contest and won first place in the Youth Original Pumpkin category.

Halloween 2008Halloween 002Thankfully Halloween wasn’t as involved this year as it has been in past years. The girls both dressed up, Stephanie as a Harajuku Girl and Morgan as a vampiress. Stephanie went to help out at the El Segundo Halloween Frolic while Morgan went trick-or-treating with a couple of friends after the frolic.

Halloween 001

Morgan also carved a jack-o-lantern this year, mostly by herself. She got a little more creative, carving out the word “Boo!” instead of a face.

Major Flirts

Morgan’s elementary school, Center Street School, had their annual Halloween parade this morning. It’s always a fun time, and some of the costumes are very creative. The teachers always dress up and some of them always put on a skit of some kind. This year, Mr. Guy, Mr. Raukko and Mr. Gladous were the Blues Brothers, while Ms. Read, Ms. Scaltrito, and a couple of others that I didn’t recognize dressed up in Hairspray outfits.

This year, Morgan wanted to be Major Flirt, a costume sold through Party City. Boy, the costumes for younger girls are starting to get a little too risque.
