We had dinner with Ron’s good friend, Julie Downes, and her flatmate, Karen. Julie has been here for the past three months, working in Sid Finegold’s lab at the Wadsworth VA. Karen came to town for the last two weeks of Julie’s stay, but, unfortunately, Julie spent most of that time working.
We had a good dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant, Szechwan Seafood, in Lomita.
Paula hosted a dinner to celebrate our good friend Julie Downes’ 50th birthday. Julie’s birthday was actually back in February but she arrived last month from London for a three month stay.
Paula had looked up the recipe for Killer Shrimp, which has gone out of business. The taste was actually very, very close, perhaps needing a little more kick to it, but otherwise excellent. Paula also barbecued a mound of the moist pork ribs that she’s famous for. For dessert, cheesecake with fresh raspberries, and Stephanie and Morgan had made chocolate covered strawberries to take over. Lots of food; Ron was absolutely stuffed.
